SOUND IMMERGENCE MEETS BUTOH: EXPLORATION OF EMOTION THROUGH VIBRATION.

Jim Doble, Forest Weston, Marina

Butoh (originated in Japan) is an improvisation-based art form that challenges us to experience ourselves and the world, outside of accepted conventions.

This performance is an entirely improvised sound and dance experience: the dancer making herself completely available to the energies present in every moment will respond to and concurrently influence what the musicians do on an array of instruments ( didgeridoo, gongs, chimes, flute, others). The performance is likely (but one never knows as it’s improvised:) to finish with a sound bath.
