Colin was born and raised in the flat corn fields of central Ohio where sadly not too many mushrooms grow. He developed a fascination with mycology from his impassioned father who often would seek out what mushrooms and fungus he could on trails and identify them with field books. After learning to cook, and after quite a few spiritual experiences, Colin taught himself the indoor cultivation of culinary and medicinal mushrooms. With a little help from time and patience he has been successful in growing a wide range of species while using various methods. From rice cakes, to brown rice flour, shotgun fruiting chambers, Martha’s tents, and of course mono tubs, he has developed a repertoire of cultivation techniques he wishes to share with his community.
