Black Feather Farm
As a Mi’kmaq descendant from Maine, my relationship with sacred cactus cultivation began in 2007 and continues through the work at Black Feather Farm in Central Maine. Our focus lies in conservation, ethnobotany, and applied plant science, with particular interest in grafting techniques, alkaloid expression, and pharmacokinetics. Over the past year, our cultivation efforts have expanded to include a range of culturally significant cacti, emphasizing ecological stewardship and respect for traditional knowledge systems. Black Feather Farm also facilitates guided experiences centered on the spiritual and physiological dimensions of sacred cacti. This work is more than cultivation—it is a commitment to heritage, ecological responsibility, and the pursuit of deeper understanding through both ancestral wisdom and scientific inquiry.
