SINGING FOR THE EARTH: COMMUNITY SONGS AS RESISTANCE AND REVERENCE

Syd Harvey

Inspired by the beloved activist vocal ensemble Wildchoir, based in San Francisco, this participatory workshop will introduce the practice of community singing and song-leading as a powerful tool for connection, resilience, and resistance. Together, we’ll learn and sing songs that honor the Earth, uplift community, and carry messages of social and environmental justice.

In a time when it can feel difficult—or even unsafe—to speak out, singing offers a collective voice that cannot be silenced. Whether at the steps of a statehouse, a forest defense camp, or a fungi festival, song has the power to open hearts, build solidarity, and disrupt harmful systems with beauty and courage.

Come ready to sing, learn, and be moved. No prior experience necessary—just a willingness to raise your voice with others in service to the planet and each other.
